Itinerary

  • Touch down into Kunming, Yunnans capital where we’ll meet you at the airport with private transfers to Moonlight Courtyard Hotel — comfortable, elegant, and well located.

As dusk settles, we’ll gather for welcome drinks — tea, wine, and small bites — a gentle introduction to the flavours ahead.

Dinner is at Shiping Hall, a Yunnan restaurant housed in a 300-year-old timber building. Elegant, quiet, and full of warmth — the perfect setting to meet your fellow travellers and begin the journey.

  • After breakfast, we’ll wander through one of Kunming’s vibrant local markets — a sensory start to the day. Snack as you go, and enjoy handmade dumplings at a tucked-away lunch spot.

In the afternoon, retreat to The Tea Den, a quiet space of antiques and incense, where we’ll taste rare teas and learn from one of Yunnan’s most respected tea masters.

As evening falls, we’ll share drinks by the lake before dinner at a Dai restaurant — bold, bright, and generous.

  • We’ll start the day with coffee at Daguan Café — a creative corner of Kunming — before checking out and heading south.

Our first stop is Tuanshan, a centuries-old village of carved wood and still ponds, just outside Jianshui.

Lunch is simple and satisfying — hearty dishes from a local favourite — before we visit the famed Shuanglong Bridge, its seventeen arches stretching across reflections of time.

We check in to Zhuyexuan, a 150-year-old courtyard hotel wrapped in quiet charm. After time to rest or wander the old town’s cobbled lanes, we gather for pre-dinner drinks and a refined Yunnan meal at Shan Hai Lin An — then stroll home beneath lantern light.

  • Wake early to witness a centuries-old tradition — the morning tofu ritual at Da Ban Well, where locals still draw water by hand and grind soybeans by stone. We’ll share fresh soy milk and youtiao under the soft morning light before returning to the hotel for breakfast.

Later, we explore Zhu’s Garden, a quiet world of carved wood, flowing courtyards and classical Yunnanese beauty.

Lunch is at Xiang Man Lou — a Jianshui institution known for steam pot chicken and handmade rice noodles.

In the afternoon, get hands-on at a purple pottery workshop and visit a master teapot studio nearby.

Evening unfolds with drinks in the courtyard, dinner at Linan Restaurant, and an optional stroll through the lantern-lit night market.

  • After breakfast, we head deep into the southern highlands — a winding three-hour drive through shifting cloud banks and terraced hills.

Lunch is simple and scenic near Niujiaozhai, followed by a walk through Qingkou Village — a UNESCO-protected Hani settlement known for its ancient water systems and hand-carved rice terraces.

By afternoon, we settle into Yuanyang Mountain Residence — a quiet stay perched above the landscape, with wide views over the valley.

As the light softens, we make our way to Tiger Mouth for sunset drinks, before returning to the hotel for a warm, mountain-style dinner.

  • Rise early for sunrise over the Yuanyang terraces — mist curling through the valleys as light spills across centuries-old slopes.

Later, we head to Shengcun Market, where hilltribe communities gather to trade produce, textiles, and handmade tools. It's a feast of colour, rhythm, and exchange.

We’ll enjoy lunch amid the market bustle, with time to browse or gather a few keepsakes.

In the afternoon, return to the terraces and Bada Scenic lookout.

Evening winds down with drinks, snacks, and a hearty local meal highlighting seasonal mountain flavours.

  • Begin the day with an optional sunrise walk to Duoyishu — a quiet path leading to misty terrace views that shift with the morning light.

After breakfast, we head to Azheke, a Hani village famed for its mushroom-shaped homes and earthen traditions. It’s a step into the living architecture of the past.

Winding down from the highlands, we pass fruit stalls stacked with papaya, bananas, and mountain pineapples — the sweetness of the south in every bite.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Mengzi and check into the Fanjian Art & Humanities Hotel — a charming converted railway building full of texture and stories.

Dinner is street-side: sizzling barbecue, bold flavours, and the warm pulse of Mengzi’s night markets. Optional drinks and late-night exploring round out the day.

  • We start the day with a steaming bowl of Across the Bridge noodles — a layered, aromatic soup steeped in local legend and flavour, served at one of Mengzi’s most beloved noodle houses.

Afterwards, we wander the old town’s food market, where street-side stalls brim with handmade snacks, fresh tofu, and woven baskets.

A walk by the lake and temple offers space to digest and drift.

In the afternoon, we return to the village. There’s time to rest, enjoy tea, stretch into a Tai Chi session, or simply watch the afternoon pass.

As dusk falls, we gather in the kitchen and around the table — sharing a village-style feast prepared with heart, laughter, and the flavours of the day.

  • After a breakfast of wild mushroom noodles — earthy, rich, and deeply Yunnanese — we travel to Mi’le and check in at DongFengYun Hotel, a terracotta landmark of art, architecture, and quiet luxury.

Here, time stretches. Spend the afternoon exploring the hotel’s private art walk, soaking in the mineral springs, or sipping tea as light shifts across the clay-coloured walls.

As evening falls, we gather in the private courtyard for a final dinner — a seasonal menu paired with local wine, shared under the glow of the illuminated art tower. A moment to reflect, reconnect, and celebrate the journey together.

  • Item dAfter breakfast, we take things slow. Whether your flight leaves early or late, the day’s rhythm will adjust to suit — with private transfers ensuring you're comfortably on time for airport check-in, or delivered to your next stay if continuing on.

For those with more hours to spare, we’ll visit nearby Keyi Village — a peaceful Hani town nestled in Luxi County — and stop by a quiet temple or tucked-away waterfall for one last taste of Yunnan’s timeless beauty.

However your journey continues, we’ll make the most of the day — no rush, no fuss, just a gentle farewell.escription
